Playdough is a perfect indoor activity for kids during winter and gives a wonderful sensory and learning experience.
We love making it in our kitchen using simple, safe ingredients.
In this post, I’m sharing my child’s favorite homemade playdough recipe.
This no-cook recipe is very easy to make, and the activities are endless!

In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt and cream of tartar

Add the vegetable oil and warm water to the bowl.

Stir with a spoon, then knead with your hands until a soft dough forms.

Knead in food coloring until evenly mixed.

Store in a sealed container or zip-lock bag.

I’ve shared a basic recipe, but if you’d like to make it more fun and exciting, you can easily add colors or a little shimmer to it.
This recipe is affordable, simple, and perfect for kids.

Playing with play dough helps children develop fine motor skills, strengthen hand muscles, and improve hand-eye coordination through squeezing, rolling, and shaping.
My son’s eyes lit up as he started shaping the dough with his tiny hands. He rolled, squeezed, and molded it into beautiful rainbows, stars, and all kinds of imaginative creations.
What began as a simple DIY activity quickly turned into hours of joyful play and creativity.

This affordable and easy no-cook play dough recipe became one of our favorite indoor activities. If you try it with your kids, I’d love to hear about the shapes and creations they make—share your experience in the comments below!
